Book Review: Wild About Books

Wild About Books

by Judy Sierra, illustrated by Marc Brown

Ages 4-8, 40 pages

I LOVED Wild About Books! It’s about a girl, Molly, who accidentally drove her bookmobile into the zoo. Well, the animals watch and become curious about reading. Soon all the animals can’t get enough books and are found throughout the zoo with their nose between the pages. The animals love books and reading so much that they decide to build a zoo library. The entire book is written in Dr. Seuss format that rhymes in a fun way, in fact the book is even dedicated to him. Wild About Books won the E.B. White Read Aloud Award in 2005. I read this book aloud and the children loved it and caught on right away that the words rhymed.

Forsaking their niches, their nests, and their nooks,

They went wild, simply wild, about wonderful books,

Choosing thin books and fat books and Cat in the Hat books

And new books and true books and heaps of how-to books.
