Weekly Photo Challenge: Pattern

I love to photograph designs, shapes, and patterns  so I’m excited about this week’s photo challenge: pattern. I decided to focus upon daily aspects that we may not notice. Everyone has seen the fancy designs and patterns that surround trees, lamp posts, or similar objects. I also included a shadow pattern of a staircase rail.

Weekly Quotation: Jane Austen

I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! — When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Culture#2

Here’s a second inspiration for the weekly photo challenge culture. I saw this woman with her dog dressed in hot pink and thought it looked cute and humorous at the same time. She’s stylish and well dressed ready to go anywhere with her chic dog. I want to know more about this woman and where she’s taking her dog. It’s amazing how people relate to their pets in our culture. In this case the dog is more of an accessory.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Culture

I’m a little late with this week’s photo challenge: culture. I struggled with this theme, since I always view culture as foreign from a different country. I decided to focus upon how our daily culture has gradually changed with technology. The reserved parking spot for hybrid or electric cars shows how our culture’s transportation has slowly changed. The empty phone booth displays how most now carry a cell phone.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Up

I took these photos on a beautiful, clear blue sky day. I used the blue sky itself as a background while looking up. We often don’t view flowers looking up from underneath.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Change

Spring is my favorite season when so many changes occur. Flowers slowly emerge from the ground and buds blossom upon trees. I love to see the colors come alive everywhere after a cold, wet, and dull winter. This week’s photo challenge focuses on change. I decided to highlight  Rhododendrons growing outside my house. Rhododendrons are Washington’s  state flower. I found flowers on the same bush at different flowering stages.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Color

I love snapping colorful photos, so this week’s photo challenge really delighted me. These bright and colorful photos were taken at a Day of the Dead celebration at the Tacoma Art Museum in Tacoma, Washington. It was the focal point immediately when you entered. This design was entirely made with colored sand. I tried my best to capture it from above. Without all these bold colors, this art work would not be as powerful.
