Book Review: The Earth Book

The Earth Book

Written & Illustrated by Todd Parr
Published March 17, 2010 by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers
Topics: Environment, Conservation
Ages: 4+, 40 pages

The Earth Book features a circular die-cut of the Earth on the cover, is printed on recycled paper, and includes a poster with friendly reminders about how to help the Earth. Everyone can do their part to help Earth, even young children. The Earth Book uses bold and bright primary colors. The book provides simple things that children can do to help the environment, such as use both sides of the paper, turn off the water when brushing teeth, turn off the lights when you leave the room, recycle, throw away garbage, and bring personal bags to the market. The Earth Book also provides reasons why it’s important to take care of the Earth, such as the owls will have a place to live in the trees, to keep the air clear so the stars sparkle, and if everyone takes care of the Earth then the Earth will take care of us.

Happy Earth Day!
